The
Seaton District Voluntary Car Service
provides transport to medical appointments for people
living in Seaton, Axmouth, Beer, Branscombe, Musbury,
Kilmington and other villages in the area. Destinations
include Seaton surgeries and hospital, Axminster hospital,
Exeter & the RD&E hospital, Dorchester and
Taunton hospitals, plus local chiropodist, dentist
and opticians appointments. We are occasionally able
to provide transport to more distant destinations
including Torbay and Plymouth hospitals.
Wheelchair
accessible transport is also available to local appointments,
and further afield, in our specially adapted vehicle.
The
service is provided by local volunteers and is booked
and coordinated through the TRIP office on 01404
46529.
Charges
are based on mileage covered (with a small contribution
towards the cost of administering the service) and
are reimbursed to the drivers. There is a minimum
charge of £3.00 for the return journey, usually
the driver will wait for the passenger and will then
return them home. Payment is made directly to the
driver at the time of the journey. People on certain
benefits may be entitled to reclaim a portion or all
of the cost for the journey to hospital appointments
at the hospital main desk, the driver will give a
receipt if required.
New
drivers are always needed to help us cope with the
ever growing demand for transport. If you can spare
even the odd half day on an occasional basis then
please get in touch and we will explain how you can
help- mileage expenses are reimbursed.
