Transport to your medical appointment by car

The Voluntary Car Service provides transport to medical appointments for people who are unable to use public transport or where public transport is not available. This is a door-to-door service with no worries about parking!

Destinations include Honiton surgery and hospital, Axminster hospital, Exeter (RD&E, Heavitree and Exeter Mobility), Dorchester and Taunton hospitals, plus local chiropodist, dentist and opticians appointments.

The service is provided by our team of volunteer drivers and is booked and coordinated through the TRIP office.

Usually the driver will be able to wait for you and will then take you home.

If you need to take someone with you or you want to take equipment such as a walking frame or a folded wheelchair with you, please make sure you let us know when booking.

Charges are based on mileage covered (with a small contribution towards the cost of administering the service) and the drivers are reimbursed for their mileage. Payment is made directly to the driver at the time of the journey. People on certain benefits may be entitled to reclaim a portion of the cost for the journey to appointments at the hospital main desk - the driver will provide a receipt if requested.

This service is operated on a charitable basis and is part-funded by donations from local groups and individuals.

Transport to your appointment by Accessible vehicle

If you are unable to use a standard car (for example if confined to a wheelchair), then we can transport you in one of our specialised accessible vehicles. See the Accessible Vehicles page.
