Transport is available for disabled people, wheelchair users, older people and people of any age who are rurally isolated.

Voluntary Car Services are offered by volunteer drivers who collect eligible people from their homes, take them to medical appointments, wait for them and return them home. These services are charged on a mileage basis and do not charge anything for waiting or additional services and care. Services are funded by these mileage charges, donations and contributions from local groups. All bookings are made through the TRIP office, giving a single point of contact available over five days per week. TRIP currently serves Honiton, Seaton, Exeter & Lyme Regis as well as the surrounding villages and countryside.

Ring & Ride buses collect eligible people from their homes in rural areas around East Devon and the Blackdown Hills, take them either into town centres or to out of town shops, then bring them home again giving a door to door service. They also run weekend and weekday trips which take local people to places of interest or more distant shopping centres. Fares are subsidised by charitable contributions from local groups and by grants from parish, local and county councils. Each bus is fully equipped for wheelchair access and transport. All bookings are made through the TRIP office in Honiton. The buses are also available for hire by eligible groups for social occasions or organised events and functions. They are available during weekdays and can be hired for evening outings and at weekends. Driver training is available.

Shopmobility is the loan of wheelchairs or powered scooters to people to enable them to shop in Honiton centre. Scooters and wheelchairs can be collected from the TRIP office. We also will meet them at their cars in the car park, or meet the ring & ride bus with the scooter and collect after they have finished. Longer term hire is also available.

Aids for Daily Living- TRIP keeps a stock of living aids such as wheelchairs, walking sticks (and ferrules), walking frames, rollators and long reach grabbers. TRIP also offers a mail order service from a comprehensive catalogue with delivery within three days of order. We now are able to supply items prescribed by NHS Devon.

Fare Cars are a Devon County Council subsidised private hire scheme that collects people from their homes in rural areas and brings them into Honiton with set arrival times and then takes them back again (with set departure times and pick up points). People need to register for this service and bookings are only made through the TRIP office.

Disabled Accessible Transport: TRIP runs 2 wheelchair accessible disabled transport vehicles, based in Honiton and Seaton. This is used during the week for wheelchair bound passenger transport to social services daycentres and special schools. It is also available for private hire, either with or without a driver, for trips to the doctors or dentist or for general use. It can also be used for hire at the weekends both with and without a driver. It can carry up to three wheelchairs or 8 frail or elderly people. It has a tail-lift for easy access and a specially adapted side step for the more mobile.

Patient Transport Ambulance Booking Service: TRIP provides a booking service for Ambulance based transport from Exeter and East Devon to out-patient appointments at hospitals in Exeter, Taunton and other areas. This service is currently available for wheelchair users, stretcher cases and for people who are physically unable to use a car or need support from more than one person to enable them to walk to a vehicle. TRIP can assess eligibility criteria, and, if ineligible, will refer the patients to their local Voluntary Car Service or other transport provider. Patients can claim back transport costs for attending hospital appointments if they are on certain benefits.

All transport information and bookings can be made on one phone number or by calling into the New Street offices.
