Befriending Hubs

Bringing a community together

About

Our new community hubs aim to bring people together to socialise and expand their social contacts via a range of activities that will appeal to the wider community and that will be beneficial to both physical and mental well-being. As a Transport charity, we will also organise door to door transport for those attending.

More Information

This community project is aimed at bringing people together to socialise and expand their social contacts via a range of activities that will appeal to the wider community and that will be beneficial to both physical and mental well-being.

Our “USP” is that we can provide the friendship, the activities AND link in our existing transport services to eliminate transport poverty – a difficulty for many in rural areas. We aim to do this by creating the following:

1. In Dunkeswell and Honiton providing 1 session, per week between the hubs. Age UK research has shown the benefit of combining an activity within a social setting can reduce loneliness, isolation and have a positive impact on physical and mental well-being.

2. Provision of virtual befriending utilising technology to connect people in their homes to friends and social activities.

3. Ongoing befriending matching and coordination in both of the previously mentioned areas.
