TRIP - Befriending Hubs

Our new community hubs aim to bring people together to socialise and expand their social contacts via a range of activities that will appeal to the wider community and that will be beneficial to both physical and mental well-being.  As a Transport charity, we will also organise door to door transport for those attending.

This community project is aimed at bringing people together to socialise and expand their social contacts via a range of

activities that will appeal to the wider community and that will be beneficial to both physical and mental well-being. Our

“USP” is that we can provide the friendship, the activities AND link in our existing transport services to eliminate transport

poverty – a difficulty for many in rural areas. We aim to do this by creating the following: 1. In Dunkeswell and Honiton

providing 1 session, per week between the hubs. Age UK research has shown the benefit of combining an activity within a

social setting can reduce loneliness, isolation and have a positive impact on physical and mental well-being. 2. Provision

of virtual befriending utilising technology to connect people in their homes to friends and social activities. 3. Ongoing

befriending matching and coordination in both of the previously mentioned areas.
